International Monetary Fund & World Bank Group Annual Meetings 2026
Markets in Focus
Last week, Thiago Campos, Economist at Turim, was in Bangkok, Thailand, to attend the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, as well as the Investor Seminar organized by J.P. Morgan.
The events brought together monetary authorities, leaders of multilateral organizations, and private sector representatives to discuss the ongoing transformations in the global economy. One of the highlights was a conversation between Kevin Warsh, Chair of the Federal Reserve, and Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the IMF.
Key topics included the impact of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity risks, fiscal challenges in a higher interest rate environment, and the restructuring of international trade, with particular attention to the role of China and Southeast Asia.
Discussions with international investors also provided an opportunity to explore different perspectives on the risks and opportunities in the current environment and their potential implications for Brazil.
