Investments in American Endowments
With Scott Malpass
On October 3rd and 5th, Turim hosted two events at our offices in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, focused on providing valuable insights into Investments in American Endowments. We had the honor of welcoming Scott Malpass, one of the world’s leading authorities on the subject.
With decades of experience in institutional investment, Malpass shared his expertise, particularly gained as the former CIO of the University of Notre Dame’s endowment. Under his 32-year tenure, the endowment’s assets grew from $375 million to an impressive $15 billion.
The events addressed the challenges and opportunities associated with American endowments, which share many similarities with the scenarios faced by long-term investors (foundations, pension funds, and families). We discussed effective strategies for institutional investments, offered practical tips for portfolio management, and analyzed current market trends, as well as investment opportunities.
After retiring as CIO of the University of Notre Dame, Scott Malpass founded Grafton Street Partners.
The discussions were moderated by Nelson Abrahao, partner and strategist at Turim, and featured the presence of Grafton Street Partners’ co-founders and partners, Andrew Charnesky (private markets specialist) and Stephen Santrach (public markets specialist).
We appreciate all participants and the Grafton Street Partners team for sharing their knowledge with us.
